The Nova Sport Register team has done its upmost to make this register as comprehensive as possible, but we understand we don’t have a complete list of cars yet. This is where you come in – we need your help! With your additional knowledge, bits of information, possible lead as to a car’s location – however large or small – we hope to track down the history of each and every Nova Sport and so ultimately, with your help, complete this register.
We would love to hear from you if you have any information on a Nova Sport that is not featured in this register. Some cars over the years have had all the right elements to be a Sport but are not on the original Vauxhall Motorsport list, so in order to make this register as accurate as we can, we have split the cars into two categories; “Confirmed Cars” and “Cars Awaiting Confirmation”. If a particular car does not appear in our Confirmed Cars list it does not mean that it’s not a Sport, it simply means that we have not been able to confirm it’s authenticity at this point in time.
The original Vauxhall Motorsport list was hand written many years ago, and although the list is undoubtedly comprehensive, with around 500 chassis numbers being recorded, it’s possible that errors could have occurred at the time of its creation. In recent years there has been talk of a commonly found identification mark, that many owners believe to be an authentic method of spotting a Sport, but until we have this verified by Vauxhall Heritage we sadly have to assume these cars are unconfirmed. As such, in order for a car to appear on our Confirmed Cars page, we have verified that the owner of each car has received a confirmation letter from Andrew Duerden (Vauxhall Heritage) as to the car’s authenticity, before adding the car to our Confirmed Cars list.
Throughout, we have also used photos of cars that have either been given to us by Sport enthusiasts, found in magazines and found trawling the internet. These are cars we understand to be Nova Sports but have no concrete evidence at this time to add them to the Register. So if you own any of these Sports, or have done in the past, we’d love to hear from you so we can update the Register to include your car.
